Notes 16.3 Box Plots

There are five points on a box plot: The lowest value, lowest quartile, median, upper quartile, and highest value

Lower Quartile = median of the lower half of the data
Upper Quartile = median of the upper half of the data

The Inner Quartile Range = the Upper Quartile - the Lower Quartile
IQR = UQ - LQ

The Range = the highest value - the lowest value
Range = High - Low



Below is an example of a labeled box plot. 






**Remember, if you have an odd amount of numbers in your data set you do NOT include the median in the lower or upper half of the data.
