There are five points on a box plot: The lowest value, lowest quartile, median, upper quartile, and highest value
Lower Quartile = median of the lower half of the data
Upper Quartile = median of the upper half of the data
The Inner Quartile Range = the Upper Quartile - the Lower Quartile
IQR = UQ - LQ
The Range = the highest value - the lowest value
Range = High - Low
Below is an example of a labeled box plot.
**Remember, if you have an odd amount of numbers in your data set you do NOT include the median in the lower or upper half of the data.
