Welcome 6th graders!
SIXTH GRADE MATH SYLLABUS
Mrs. Bushek
Course Description:
Welcome to sixth grade math! During the course of the year your student will increase their mathematical knowledge with a classroom focus on problem solving and real-world applications. This course will build off of previous math concepts learned and introduce algebraic thinking.
Course Layout:
The focus of the year will build from the following topics: the number system, ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics and probability. Students are expected to come to class prepared with their materials and ready to learn. Warm Ups will be given at the beginning of class each day and recorded in the student’s notebook for a classwork grade. Each student must bring two dry erase markers every day that will be for warm ups and other activities.
Homework will be given daily and is checked for work and effort (student must show work to receive credit). Homework will come from a variety of sources including their textbook (Florida Go Math Mathematics 1), worksheets, and online through Khan Academy. In addition to an in-class textbook, the students can find an online version of the book accessible through single sign on.
Students are expected to reference my class website daily to view module videos that enhance the classroom lessons. The website will contain content videos, the weekly agenda, class notes, and additional resources to help your student succeed. For additional support, Extra Help Thursday will be offered each week on Thursday from 8:30-9:00 in my classroom 430.
