Hints for graphing in the coordinate plane
In an ordered pair first you move along the x-axis (to the right if the number is positive, to the left if the number is negative) then you move along the y-axis (up if the number is positive, down if the number is negative).
Example: (3, -7) will be 3 to the right of the origin, and 7 down from the origin.
An ordered pair is always (x, y)
If the x-coordinate is 0, the point will lie on the y-axis.
If the y-coordinate is 0, the point will lie on the x-axis.
Example: (-9, 0) will lie on the x-axis because the y-coordinate is 0.
